HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THIS?
The pace of basketball can be hard to handle at times. Even when we are standing still, stuff happens fast. You make the call....
Each year the NFHS seeks feedback regarding the implemenation of new rules, or ideas they have for proposal in future years. If you want them to hear your feedback, click this link to take the survey.
MEETING MAKE-UP DATE
The Executive Committee has chosen this SUNDAY FEBRUARY 19, as the make-up date for our recently cancelled meeting. The meeting will remain at 1 PM at the Elk's Lodge. Please remember to print and fill out your ratings sheet, as well as bring payment for your 2017-18 dues.
MODIFIED SEASON IS HERE
Now that the Modified season is upon us, take a minute to review the rules. Also remember to contact your partner at least 24 hours in advance of your game. Regardless of the level of the game, Board 59 expects all Officials to give the same effort they would a Varsity or JV game. Coaches and players work hard. Give them your best!
PROPER END-OF-GAME MANAGEMENT
The end of a close game can be exciting, as well as confusing. This article is why it is so important to be on top of your game for a full 32 minutes.
PASSING OF RAY ANDERSON
As many of you have known, Ray Anderson had been in the hospital for an extendd period of time. I am sad to report that Ray passed away on Friday December 2. You can read the full obituary here.
Ray was a longtime referee/official for a number of Frontier League sports. He was presently serving at the Secretary/Treasurer for the Jeff-Lewis Basketball Board of Officials. His smile and willingness to help will be sorely missed. IAABO Board 59 extends our condolences to the entire Anderson family.
NOW THAT THE SEASON IS UNDERWAY...
All Officials are expected to dress appropriately. Jeans, t-shirts, dirty work clothes, etc. is not acceptable attire. Dress pants, khakis, buttoned shirt or sweater are examples of acceptable attire.
At least 24 hours in advance you should contact your partner to verify game site and travel plans where appropriate.
Please use the Incident Report link on this page for any ejections or technical fouls. In addition, any incidents you feel the Executive Board should be aware of should also be submitted.
Work hard to the final horn regardless of score. We are paid for a full 32 minutes, so give your best effort for 32 minutes!

60 SECONDS ON OFFICIATING
If you've never been to the website '60 Seconds on Officiating', I suggest giving it a look. The site is created and the content is maintained by officials Billy Martin, Tim Malloy, and Al Battista.
OFFICIAL IAABO SUPPLIER
IAABO Executive Director Top Lopes has asked all IAABO Boards to encouarge membership to purchase uniforms, gear, etc. from Honigs Whistle Stop (www.honigs.com). IAABO receives money from Honigs each year to be designated as our official supplier. As such, IAABO has been able to hold the line on any increase on our dues.
At this time, Honigs is offering a special on shirts with the IAABO emblem for all new officials at a cost of $21.00 per shirt.
If you are planning on purchasing IAABO gear, please consider using Honigs. I have used them in the past, and they provide a quality product at a competitive price. There is a permanent link on the left hand side of this page (Honigs Logo).
I have created a forum, accessible only to us, where we can have dialogue throughout the season. Talk about plays, talk about rules, or talk about politics. It doesn't matter what you talk about. There is a link on the left side of this page to the Ref Room. You must register with a username and password. I have to validate each and every member who registers on the site, therefore I am able to keep non-board members off the forum. I think this can be another valuable and useful tool. Please take advantage it. It's simple to use.
